Internations Event, Cavalli Club, Dubai

After the recent fuss about the drinks bill for Dhs. 390000 (US $ 107000) run up during a 3 hour party in the Cavalli Club on New Years Eve, I couldn't pass on the chance to visit this exclusive night club in Dubai this evening !!

Incompetent Car Repair Garage

I was overjoyed to get a phone call yesterday to say that after over 2 weeks, the accident damage to my Chrysler Grand Voyager had been repaired and the car was ready for collection. When I went round to the garage, I couldn't believe how incompetent they are !! Immediately obvious signs are the missing and damaged badge letters on the tailgate (the garage claim that these are no longer available from Chrysler, although the car is only just over 4 years old !!), the rear bumper bar doesn't fit properly, and the reverse warning system doesn't work properly (because they have fitted the wrong sensors). I'm too scared to take the car to Chrysler and let them check if the repair work under the skin has been carried out correctly, since the optical indications do not bode well !!!

Friday Shoot Out

There is a very active group of photographers in Dubai who meet up at 3:30 am every Friday morning (or Thursday night ?) to head off to various locations around the UAE and capture the sunrise and early morning light. Since this is the first Friday of 2012, I decided to get up at 2:45 am to join them, and about 40 equally mad photographers drove in a convoy to Khalba Beach (near Fujeirah, on the east coast of the UAE, about 120 km from Dubai) !!!

New addition to my family !!!

When I first arrived in Dubai, I bought a black 2007 Chrysler Grand Voyager, because I thought that I would need a 7-seater for my business. Just 9 months later, I have revued my business plan and decided that I don't need such a large vehicle, so the Chrysler will shortly be advertised for sale (after the service has been completed).

To replace the Chrysler, I bought a black 2003 Peugeot 206 CC today !! (these are the photos taken by the seller, I will replace them with my photos later.)

The performance from its 2.0 litre 136 hp engine matched to a 5 speed manual gearbox is adequate for Dubai traffic.

I am looking forward to cruising around again in a convertible, with the advantage of a hardtop and airconditioning when the summer heat returns to Dubai !!

Happy New Year !!

Although I haven't posted here for over a week, I have been anything but quiet, with so many photos for clients to retouch and deliver .... but I have almost caught up with these now, just in time for the next session of photo shoots to start in the new year !!

This was part of the 2 minute 45 second firework display above the Al Khan lagoon on the Sharjah Corniche at midnight on New Years' Day that signified the start of 2012 !!

I had planned to photograph the fireworks at either Jumeirah Beach or Burj Khalifa in Dubai, but was put off by reports on the radio and internet of heavy traffic congestion and full car parks in those areas !!
