More fish plus vegetables

I thought I would go to the Fish and Vegetable Market in Deira today to get some nice shots there - but it was too hot and humid, the sweat was streaming from my forehead into my eyes, and I could hardly see through the camera viewfinder !!! Still, at least walking around in this giant sauna is helping me to loose some weight without having to go on a diet !!

Rule 1: Photograph the boss first, then he is more likely to let you photograph his colleagues afterwards !!

Whilst I was taking the shots that I wanted, my camera and flashgun attracted a lot of attention, so I had many requests to take some more photos ....

  1. Thinking about buying Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 SLD Aspherical DC Optical Stabilized (OS) Lens with Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras to go with my Nikon D5000. Was looking for recommendations other than on Amazon. Came across your site. You have pictures taken with Nikon D5000 and Sigma 18-50mm lens. What is your view on this wide-angle lens?

  2. Hi Anonymous. I cannot comment on the quality of the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 lens, since I have never owned or used that model. I used to own the Sigma (non EX) 18-200 OS lens, which was very soft with lots of aberations - very disappointing. I now own the Sigma EX 18-50mm f2.8 DX lens, the Sigma EX 12-24mm FX lens and Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8 (non OS) lenses, all of which are optically very sharp (as good as my Nikkor 12-24 f2.8 or Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR), but mechanically not as well made - my Sigma EX 18-50mm f2.8 had to be repaired (loose internal elements and faulty autofocus) when it was only 18 months old, and the lens mount has broken off the Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8 twice - the first repair was under warranty, the second repair will cost more than the lens is worth now :-( .... so I would hesitate to recommend Sigma lenses unless you are not going to use them much.
